Bulldozer Manufacturer:

Komatsu

Komatsu Limited is a company that manufacturers a variety of equipment for mining, military, and construction use. At this time, Komatsu is the second largest manufacturer of construction equipment, trailing only Caterpillar Inc. Based in Tokyo, Japan, Komatsu sells their products in countries all over the world.

Komatsu
Komatsu was founded in 1917 under the name Komatsu Iron Works. Although the name has changed, the products that they offer and the high standard of quality have stayed the same. Being known for reliability and high quality have gone a long way in helping Komatsu reach and stay at the top of the industry.

There are some parts of the world in which Komatsu is better known and more established than its main competitor, Caterpillar. They include Japan, Middle East, and China. One of the main reasons the company has been able to break into other geographic territories is its manufacturing operations in areas such as Asia, Europe, and North and South America.

The company manufactured its first tractor in 1931. Through the 1930’s and 40’s, Komatsu was well known for producing military vehicles. After World War II they entered into the non-military industries by producing engineering vehicles, such as bulldozers and forklifts, for use in a variety of industries.

By 1967, Komatsu began to export products to the United States and this started the long standing rival with the American based company, Caterpillar, as well as many others.

Komatsu is famous for many of their products. For instance, their D575 is the largest bulldozer in the world. They are also committed to taking their lineup to the next level, which can be seen in the production of the Komatsu PC200-8 Hybrid excavator. Fuel savings is one segment Komatsu is poised to dominate in the years to come.

Some of the most popular vehicles offered by Komatsu include: compact, small, medium, and large excavators, dump trucks, bulldozers, wheel loaders, skid steer loaders, crushers, and truck loaders among many others.

Masahiro Sakane is the current CEO and President of Komatsu. With roughly 40,000 employees stationed all over the world, it is easy to see that Komatsu Limited has become a major player in the heavy machinery industry.
