Backhoe Loaders

The backhoe loader is also known as a loader backhoe or simply a backhoe. This type of engineering vehicle was invented by Joseph Cyril Bamford of the United Kingdom in 1953. Bamford would later go onto found J.C. Bamford, a manufacturer of engineering vehicles.

This common vehicle can be easily deciphered by its design. The backhoe loader features a tractor setup with a shovel/bucket on the front and a backhoe in the rear. When compared to other similar engineering vehicles, it is easy to see that the backhoe loader is smaller in size. The size of these vehicles does not mean they compromise anything in terms of power and versatility.

Backhoe Loaders
The small size of the backhoe loader goes a long way in making it the perfect choice for a wide variety of projects ranging from urban engineering to fixing roads, building structures, and other like jobs. The extreme versatility of this vehicle, coupled with its size for easy maneuverability, make it the logical choice for projects that require more than one task to be completed.

Some of the most common uses of these vehicles include: demolition, construction projects, road rebuilding and paving, digging holes, moving items, and landscaping.

One of the most unique and helpful features of a backhoe loader is the ability to remove the backhoe bucket and replace it with project specific attachment such as a stump grinder, auger, grappler, or breaker.

It is not uncommon to see a backhoe loader doing a lot of work on urban engineering projects. The small frame of the backhoe loader makes it easy for the operator to move through tight areas without risking damage or injury.

The backhoe loader is commonly used in all parts of the world. Even though it was invented in 1953, this vehicle did not make its way to the United States until 1967 when the J.I. Case Company began to manufacture them. Even today, the Case backhoe loader is one of the most popular in the world.

The leading manufacturers of backhoe loaders include: Case Corporation, Caterpillar Inc., Fermac, Fiat, Hitachi, Hydrema, J.C. Bamford, John Deere Tractors, and Volvo Construction Equipment.

The backhoe loader has been around for more than 50 years, and is sure to stay popular thanks to its power, durability, versatility, and compact design.
